Intercultural socialization and self-confidence development for children

Our volunteers are excited to announce the start of the new Solidarity project for Children implemented under the European Solidarity Corps.

About the project

Inspired by the big success of the Kids’ Club project implemented under the European Solidarity Corps in Amstelveen, the young initiative volunteers decided to continue their activities and came up with this initiative! This initiative aims to bring together young children with different socio-cultural backgrounds who face socialization issues as a consequence of the COVID-19 lockdown, lack of Dutch language skills in the case of international children, etc.

Within the frames of this beautiful initiative, the volunteers will develop and implement 10 workshops that will aim to boost the self-confidence and social skills of children, help international children learn and practice more Dutch language and enjoy the learning process, overcome shyness and feel comfortable in an international environment and enjoy the fun of teamwork.

Participacipation is FREE OF CHARGE.

The workshops will be organized in Buurtkamer Keizer Karelpark (Lindenlaan 75, 1185 LC Amstelveen).

Target Group

The project Intercultural socialization and self-confidence development for children will bring new opportunities to the international community of Amstelveen as the target group of this initiative is Dutch and international children 7-10 years old living in the Amstelveen area.

Crafting as a tool to improve creativity

Evolving and expressing our creativity through crafting!

This workshop was aimed to help children open their minds and hearts, think out of the box and learn new skills. During the workshop, kids painted with salt, built and personalized airplanes, crafted running rabbits, created a meaningful message for their own certificates :)

A small competition with handmade airplanes and running rabbits followed by an awarding ceremony was a beautiful closing of this colorful and creative day.

Wonderful opportunity granted by the #EuropeanSolidarityCorps both to the #volunteers and the target group of the project to expand the boundaries of creative thinking and explore the surrounding world

Fun Science!

Thanks to the volunteers and our beautiful project, the children learned a lot about science in a fun way by experimenting and observing. One more challenge for our fantastic volunteers _is to research and identify innovative, interesting and engaging scientific experiments that would let kids learn something new, communicate and help each other during the workshop. Great job!

Do you know the origin of all the materials and goods we use in our daily lives? The workshop “Nature: Where does it come from?” within frames of 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 Solidarity project was dedicated to answering that question

Our young volunteers organized an entire workshop to find out where the different products and materials like plastic, salt, honey, clay, cotton t-shirts, etc. come from.

Kids also planted Sunflowers and took them home to take very good care. At the end of the project, we will check :)

Kids also built beautiful vases with clay, prepared the structural maquet of our planet and much more :)

It was a great experience not only for our target group but also for volunteers as they did interesting research to design and put together fun and educational activities.

We utilize every opportunity to motivate non-Dutch children in our target group to learn Dutch

This time the volunteers organized a book presentation and reading session. Our guests were from the “Bilingual Book“ project team (Bright Future Foundation). The volunteers together presented the book designed and elaborated by the young volunteers of Bright Future in the Dutch language with the English translation of the text to make the learning and reading process easy and fun both for Dutch-speaking and Dutch-learning children (and also their parents). Nice opportunity to explore the world and learn a new language with this very interesting and engaging book.

An excellent opportunity for the target group of the 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 Solidarity project to learn about important and interesting professions!

Thanks to our 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗚𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀 and 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿-𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀, children have discovered the professions of 𝗻𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲, 𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗼𝗻, 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿, 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿 and 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿.

Thanks to the help of Brandweer Amsterdam-Amstelland  team, the children learned about the profession of the firefighter, how the firefighters work in a team in case of emergency, checked out the 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗸 and got answers to all their questions. As well, children learned what to do in case of fire J.

Thanks to Love2cre8 Photography and our amazing 𝗟𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁, the target group and volunteers discovered the 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿, learned valuable skills that will let them make wonderful photos as well as pause for incredible shots.

Thanks to the fantastic photos taken by Lilit, the kids, their parents and the volunteers will remember this unique experience forever.

Our dear nurse and dental surgeon (who are as well 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 of children attending the project) presented their professions thus making an incredible introduction to the medical world.

This workshop was an excellent and inspirational experience for children!

Music makes life happier, and communication easier. Music is the universal language of mankind. It encourages us to learn about new cultures and new countries.
