Our volunteers are excited to announce the start of the new Solidarity project for Children implemented under the European Solidarity Corps.

Kids’ Club

About the project

The magnitude of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak has been a strain on everyone. It has changed our life despite our age, nationality, and social status. Not only adults but also kids suffer a lot from the lack of communication forced by the pandemic. After staying home with parents for around a year, away from school, their regular activities, and friends, now children have difficulties with socialization.

The goal of this initiative is to create a safe and creative space for children from refugees, expats, and Dutch families, to recreate the essence of social life before the pandemic

Participacipation is FREE OF CHARGE.

The workshops will be organized in Buurtkamer Keizer Karelpark (Lindenlaan 75, 1185 LC Amstelveen).

Target group

Our project targets a specific group of young children, between the ages of 7-9. The activities will be designed considering the special needs of the target group.

*Application is closed since the target group is complete and project activities are in process. In case you have any questions/comments/ideas, please contact us.

A beautiful and colorful 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 has been organized for the target group of the Kids’ Club project to celebrate the closing of the project, kids' achievements and amazing journey. Children received super nice 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 of 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and little surprises from volunteers.

This time not only volunteers but also the parents of participating children prepared a nice and tasty surprise. The parents prepared 𝘁𝗮𝘀𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗻𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀 from their homelands to let the children experience each other’s traditional cuisine. One more a great opportunity both for the volunteers and the target group to learn each other's culture. 𝗪𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴.

Summer party at the Kids’ Club

The Solidarity Project Kids’ Club aims to develop social skills and give the target group an additional learning and development opportunity through non-formal and informal learning methodologies.

This time the volunteers designed a workshop about science and scientific experiments! With the help of volunteers, kids made volcanos, a rocket, a catapult, and a lot more. To make the workshop happen, the volunteers put in a lot of effort as they had to find out interesting materials and ideas to realize during the workshop with children.

The Solidarity Project Kids’ Club aims to help children to improve their 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 skills. Thanks to the tremendous efforts of our creative Volunteers, this workshop of the Kids' Club became a 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 full of fun and excitement. With the help of volunteers, kids prepared and presented 3 fairytales (3 Little Pigs; Little Red Riding Hood, and Sleeping Beatty). They prepared their 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗽𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗲𝘁𝘀 and put all their efforts to present an amazing performance for our guests. 𝗞𝗶𝗱𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗱 the process of preparation and theater play very much as this was a totally new experience for them. Theather at the Kids’ Club

Within the frames of the Kids’ Club solidarity project implemented under the European Solidarity Corps (European Union), our volunteers decided to support the Ukrainian Refugee families and organize an additional Kids’ Club workshop for Ukrainian children.
This event was organized for Ukrainian children who had to leave home and find shelter in Amstelveen. The target of the event is to help them to overcome the stress, meet other international kids living in the neighborhood, and socialize. This was a little feast for participating children. The workshop has been implemented in cooperation with our partners Bright Future Foundation, Buurtkamer Keizer Karelpark and Participe Amstelland.
As well, this event was a perfect opportunity to introduce non-formal learning and European values. An amazing event was is the result of productive cooperation with our partner organization in Amstelveen.

Spring at the Kids’ Club

The Kids’ Club project volunteers decided to offer a chance to the target group to meet new and interesting people, discover and experience new professions, to spend quality time with them. This workshop allowed kids to learn how books for kids are written, designed, and published; how the airport security works; met the neighborhood police agent; with the help of financial specialists learned a lot about the currencies of different countries, and about the banking system; kids learned how the cartoons are made as well had a lot of fun while working with the carpenters.

An amazing day full of discoveries, emotions and communication.

Professions workshop

The great philosopher Plato concluded the opinions of all the Greatest Minds of humanity about music just in one sentence: “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.”

This time The Great Music was the guest of the Kids’ Club project. The magic of the workshop embraced our target group thanks to the fantastic guests of the workshops_ talented musicians Gad Meir Lev and Ivo. Kids learned a lot about music and instruments, and together with our guests, prepared a wonderful performance for parents.

Oscar Wilde said “I don’t want to be at the mercy of my emotions. I want to use them, to enjoy them.”
We also believe in it. We believe that it is very important to understand our emotions and talk about them in society. This workshop of the Kids’ Club project implemented by the volunteers of Solidarity Bridge Foundation was dedicated to emotions.
It was a great workshop where we learned about emotions, about expressing and understanding different emotions though the predominating emotion during the day was happiness and excitement.
Volunteers tackled this topic with the greatest attention and care as it is an important and sensitive subject for the children in our target group facing difficulties in socialization. This workshop will help them to feel more confident with their feelings and emotions, understand each other better, and support each other.

Emotions

What can be better than a great party to close the year?! Of course, a big party!
In order to organize a tremendous party and celebrate the Sinterklaas in the best way possible, the volunteers of the Kids’ Club project decided to join the forces with our partners Bright Future Foundation and the Buurtkamer Keizer Karelpark.
The Volunteers of the Kids’ Club Solidarity project together with the volunteers of the Dutch for non-Dutch Solidarity project (implemented by the volunteers of the Foundation Bright Future), organized a big party together with the support of Buurtkamer KKP.  This was a great opportunity for young volunteers to improve teamwork and project management in a big team.  Thanks to the joint effort, the children enjoyed a very interesting theater, different activities, group games, and crafts related to the Sinterklaas celebration. At the end of the day, children enjoyed seasonal treats during the bingo game and received very nice presents.

Sinterklaas celebration party

Hello, my name is …, I am from …
Sometimes it seems very easy to introduce ourselves in a new environment but it is not that simple for young and shy children. That’s why our volunteers organized an entire workshop dedicated to this topic.
Thanks to the various non-formal and fun activities organized by our creative volunteers, kids got an excellent opportunity to talk about themselves and think about what they like to do or eat. This was a great experience for everyone, the volunteers discovered each child in the target group and understood how to approach each of them.

This is me…
